This is my sow Bubbles. She was my last showpig ever, and this summer we have a litter of spots out of her. She was bred by Harman Farms.

Here is my little brother, Will. He won breed champion Black OPB at our local show his first year. The pig that won, was out of my sow Bubbles, pictured right.

My name is Shalin Lawson and I am joining the Harman Farms team as the new Social Media Manager and Blog Composer.  I am eager to take on this new challenge, and provide a fresh perspective.  I have known the Harmans for as long as I can remember!  They have been like second parents to me throughout my life, and I am extremely excited to start this new journey with them.  Currently, I am a Junior in Agricultural Media and Communications at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.  My roots in the show pig industry run deep, beginning in the first grade when my dad and I purchased our first bred gilt.  Those roots have developed through the years as I have been extremely active in 4-H and hog shows all over the state.  I have also worked for Texas Pork Producers Association as a camp counselor during their Texas Pork Youth Leadership Camp, and still breed and farrow out a sow with my dad every summer.  Presently, I am a freelance intern for KGNC Radio’s Agribusiness Director, James Hunt, and I am planning to have an internship photographing the Tri-State Fair in Amarillo, Texas this coming fall.  I enjoy spending time working with my 8 year old brother and his show projects (when he actually listens).  I am also a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholar and San Antonio Livestock Exposition scholar.  The show pig industry has blessed me immeasurably, and I am honored to continue to be involved.

Wayne and Leslie came to support me at my last county show ever!

In the summer of 2005, almost 11 years ago, I purchased my very first show pig.  This was not just any show pig, but it was the first show pig Wayne and Leslie ever sold.  Since that day, they haven’t been able to get rid of me.  Wayne and Leslie have pushed me to become the person I am today, and I can say from experience that Harman Farms is undeniably “Focused On Your Success.”  The Harman’s are unique in their ability to work as a team, and when you purchase from Harman Farms, you are not only purchasing a show project, but you are gaining our team behind YOU.  We are here to help in any way we possibly can.  The amount of advancement that has taken place at Harman Farms since I started, is astounding and it only goes up from here folks!  I am not the only change coming to Harman Farms this year; keep your eyes open for many new opportunities headed out of the gate!
