We have spent the time and money to build an elite sow herd so it only makes sense to breed to the best boars to make show pigs that can compete on any level. We have a saying here at the farm that we live by, “Average is Not Good Enough.” If you are going to breed show pigs, you must purchase or keep the best genetics. It is no different for people buying show pigs. If you are going to show, make sure that you have one that that can compete and take a long hard look at the genetics that are winning in the show ring.
Over the past few years we have bought breeding stock from some of the best in the business including Mike Clay, Heimer Hamps, The Stud, Lowdermilk, Reiss, Jennings, Olsen, Foote and many more. All of those purchases were investments just like a show pig is for an FFA or 4-H project. The boars that we used are from some of the best firms in the nation including SGI, Heimer, Moyer, Showtime, Brockman, Southern Gold, Triggs and Foote. We do not use the “shotgun” approach here either. The pedigree and phenotype of each sow is studied in detail and the hunt begins. Just like the hunt for determining where to buy pigs, we hunt to find the best boar to complement each sow whether it be a boar here or one elsewhere.
There are lots of places to buy pigs but remember that winning show pigs come from winning genetics and consider this when determining where to buy show pigs. Our pigs are produced from winning genetics lines yet are still reasonably priced. We have produced champion after champion year after year. Please consider us when deciding where to buy show pigs this fall. Contact us to help you find your next Champion.
